The Building Services Division reviews proposed construction plans, issues permits,
performs inspections on construction and investigates building code complaints.
The Building Services Division provides permitting and inspection services for the City
of Apalachicola as well as the unincorporated areas of Franklin County including,
St. George Island, Eastpoint and Alligator Point.
The Building Services Division also oversees Contractor Licensing and Address Numbering.

Address Numbering
The Address Numbering Section is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the
numbering system established by County Ordinance. This office assigns and verifies
addresses for the unincorporated areas of Franklin County and the cities of Apalachicola
and Carrabelle.

| Fire Safety | Required for certificate of occupancy (new construction) and as required or requested for day cares, restaurants, etc. |
| Alarm | Any new installation, any panel changes, and any additions to existing systems. |
| Land Clearing | Any clearing of land in the unincorporated area of Franklin County that requires the removal of protected trees or requires a "bush hog" or heavy equipment. If the project is 3 acres or less a permit is required to be obtained from the Builders Services Division. If more than 3 acres a development order must be obtained from the Planning & Zoning Division. |

SCHEDULE FOR DEVELOPMENT PERMITS AS FOLLOWS:
$1,0000.00 and less
No Fee unless inspection is required in which case a $25.00 base fee.
$1,001.00 to $50,000.00
$25.00 for the first $1,000, $5.00 for each additional thousand or part thereof
to and including $50,000.
$50,001 to $100,00
$266.00 for the first $50,000 and $4.00 for each additional thousand up to and including
$100,000.
$100,000 to $500,000
$466.00 for the first $100,000 and $3.00 for each additional thousand or part thereof
to and including $500,000.
$500,000 and up
$1,660.00 for the first $500,00 and $2.00 for each additional thousand or fraction
thereof.
Mobile Homes
$75.00 Single Wide
$125.00 Double Wide
Moving of buildings other than

Where work, for which a permit is required by Franklin County is started prior to obtaining said permit, the fees herein specified shall be doubled. The payment of such double fees shall not relieve any person from fully complying with the requirements of Franklin County or the Florida Building Code.
