The Building Services Division reviews proposed construction plans, issues permits, performs inspections on construction and investigates building code complaints. The Building Services Division provides permitting and inspection services for the City of Apalachicola as well as the unincorporated areas of Franklin County including, St. George Island, Eastpoint and Alligator Point.

Address Numbering
The Address Numbering Section is responsible for coordinating and maintaining the numbering system established by County Ordinance. This office assigns and verifies addresses for the unincorporated areas of Franklin County and the cities of Apalachicola and Carrabelle.

Permits

Building	Any construction, remodeling, renovation, addition, moving or demolition of a building or structure.
Mobile Home Set-Up	Any new set-up and any change-out.
Electrical	Any installation, addition or major repair
Plumbing	Any installation, addition or major repair.
Mechanical	Any installation, addition or major repair.
Gas	Any installation, addition or major repair.
Swimming Pool	Any new construction and any structural change or repair.
Sign	Any new construction and any structural change or repair.
Dock & Seawall	Any new construction and any structural change or repair.
Fire Safety	Required for certificate of occupancy (new construction) and as required or requested for day cares, restaurants, etc.
Alarm	Any new installation, any panel changes, and any additions to existing systems.
Land Clearing	Any clearing of land in the unincorporated area of Franklin County that requires the removal of protected trees or requires a "bush hog" or heavy equipment. If the project is 3 acres or less a permit is required to be obtained from the Builders Services Division. If more than 3 acres a development order must be obtained from the Planning & Zoning Division.
Roofing	Any replacement or repair of more than 100 square feet for a residential project. Any commercial installation or major repair

No Fee unless inspection is required in which case a $25.00 base fee.

$1,001.00 to $50,000.00
$25.00 for the first $1,000, $5.00 for each additional thousand or part thereof to and including $50,000.

$50,001 to $100,00
$266.00 for the first $50,000 and $4.00 for each additional thousand up to and including $100,000.

$100,000 to $500,000
$466.00 for the first $100,000 and $3.00 for each additional thousand or part thereof to and including $500,000.

$500,000 and up
$1,660.00 for the first $500,00 and $2.00 for each additional thousand or fraction thereof.

Mobile Homes
$75.00 Single Wide
$125.00 Double Wide

Moving of buildings other than
Mobile Homes $200.00

Demolition of buildings or structures $100.00

Where work, for which a permit is required by Franklin County is started prior to obtaining said permit, the fees herein specified shall be doubled. The payment of such double fees shall not relieve any person from fully complying with the requirements of Franklin County or the Florida Building Code.
